This haven of self-indulgent handmade delights was founded by Belgian-born Madam Valerie in 1926. Today a British institution, Patisserie Valerie continues to offer delicious cakes, gateaux and pastries. Among its most popular choices is the apple tart, a butter pastry with an apple, sultana and cinnamon filling topped with sliced apples and an apricot glaze. The Mixed Berry Mousse is also a highlight and is comprised of a vanilla sponge base topped with layers of whipped cream mousse, berry glaze and fresh fruit. European in feel, the front window and inside counter is lined with sweet treats. Customers can enjoy desserts amid the opulent setting, which features prettily painted walls and decadent archways. A selection of teas and coffees accompanies the cakes. |
